Ohio first-time home buyer programs: down payment help and limits
The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) offers 30-year mortgages through lenders, with down payment help of 3% on conventional loans or 3.5% on government-backed loans. It is forgiven after seven years. You need a credit score of at least 640 (650 for an FHA loan, one insured by the Federal Housing Administration) and income under your county's limit.
