Housing application fees: never pay to enter a housing lottery
Public housing lotteries and assisted-housing waitlists should not charge you to enter or join. Some private buildings charge a small screening fee for a credit and background check, and California limits it. Never pay a broker, website or social media account to apply or to see listings.
