Who can apply

Open to

People who be at least 18 years of age to apply (exception: emancipated minor).

Other rules from the listing

  • High Rises: Head of Household, Spouse or Co-Head must be elderly (62+) or disabled.
  • Scattered Sites: employed 24 consecutive months averaging 20+ hours per week, elderly or disabled for highest preference; 12 consecutive months employment at 20+ hours gives a lower-ranked preference.
  • Bedroom size by household composition (e.g., head of household only or with spouse qualifies for 1 bedroom; head and one child 2 bedroom; no more than two persons per bedroom).
  • Criminal background check and landlord/rental history check for each person 18 or older.

Who gets priority

These applicants move up the list.

  • Veteran Preference for any active duty U.S. service member or veteran (household; surviving household members of a deceased service member or veteran under stated conditions)
  • Processing based on community selected, bedroom size needed, preference and sequence date/time of receipt
