- Household income must be between 50% and 80% of area median income.
Income limits
The most your whole household can earn in a year, before taxes. These limits are for the highest income level on the posted chart (80% of the middle income in the area). Some homes here may have lower limits.

Who gets priority
These applicants move up the list.
- Current Cambridge residents get 12 preference points
- Households that work in Cambridge get 5 points if they do not count as residents
- A household with an emergency housing need (for example a no-fault eviction) gets 3 points
- A parent or guardian of a child under 18 gets 2 points
- An honorably discharged veteran, or the veteran's widow or widower, gets 1 point

- Most recent federal tax returns with W2s (Schedule C if self-employed)
- Statement of Non-filing from the IRS if not required to file (requested at the second, final-application stage)
- Last three months of bank statements
- Current within 90 days (final application stage)
- Benefit statements
- Child support and alimony documentation (final application stage)
- Employment letter and pay stubs showing the household member must work at least 30 hours a week in Cambridge
- Birth certificates for each child (families with children preference)
- Licensed professional letter on letterhead
- Dated within the last 12 months
- For units with disability features
