Texas has 82 open area-wide waitlists on Fair Shot Housing right now: 21 for Section 8 vouchers, 56 for public housing, 3 for Section 8 buildings and 9 for other kinds of help. One waitlist for a whole city or county, run by a local housing office. It is not for one building.

What to check before you apply

Check the housing office’s own website for lists we haven’t added. This is not every waitlist in Texas. It holds the lists we found on housing offices’ own websites that were open when we last checked (Oct 6). Lists that are closed are not shown, and the housing office decides who qualifies and when a list opens. For one particular building, search the homes in Texas.
